These materials include Elmer’s glue, Mod Podge, Bottle caps, Rulers, and Elmer’s Glue. If you do not have these items on hand, you can always substitute Elmer’s glue for Mod Podge.

Elmer’s

You can create a photo ornament with Elmer’s glue by printing your photo on a sheet of paper. Then, you can apply a thin layer of Mod Podge over the picture. Let it dry completely before continuing. Now, print the words or phrases you want on the ornament. Choose a font that you like. Make sure you re-size the image if you need to. You can also use a pencil and lightly rub the outline to the photo. If the words smear when you pick it up, you can color the pencil outline with a black paint pen. The finished product can be decorated by attaching a ribbon hanger and a ribbon.

Mod Podge

Using Mod Podge, you can make handmade photo ornaments by printing and attaching a photo. After printing, you should smooth the photo with a sponge brush and let it dry completely. Next, you can print out the words you want to write on your ornament. You can use a pencil and lightly rub the outline of the words onto the ornament. Once the ornament is dry, you can use a black paint pen to color the words. After that, you can hang your ornaments on the tree.

Bottle caps

Bottle caps make great photo ornaments, and they are inexpensive, too. You can find bottle caps at craft stores and restaurants, and many restaurants will throw them away. Just ask the staff for some. Otherwise, you can purchase them in bulk at stores like Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, JoAnn’s, or Amazon.

Rulers

A ruler is a must-have when making DIY photo ornaments. You will need this tool in order to get the right size picture and cut it out. You can also use a stencil to make a picture. This stencil has an 1 3/4-inch circle that fits inside of it. Once you have cut out the circle, you can write on the picture with a black paint pen.

Cereal boxes

Cereal boxes make great photo ornaments, and are also practical. They are easy to use, and are much more fun to make than store-bought ornaments. Cereal boxes can also be used as gift boxes and even as nightlights!

Ribbon

DIY photo ornaments can be made using a wood slice and a piece of ribbon. To make them, you should trace the picture onto the wood slice with a pencil and cut out the image along the line. Once the photo is cut out, brush a thin layer of mod podge over the top. Brush the back of the photo with mod podge, too. Use a craft stick to gently push the photo into the ornament.

There are several materials you can use to create your own photo ornaments.
