You can either use a plunger or a screwdriver. The first step in removing a shower drain is to remove the drain cover. To do this, you should place a small cup of lubricant near the rim of the drain cover. Then, insert a screwdriver tip through a hole in the rim and carefully pull the handle of the screwdriver to unscrew the drain cover.

Lift-and-turn shower drain cover

If your shower drain cover is stuck, you may be able to unscrew it by hand. Most of these covers are fastened with screws. To remove them, use a flathead screwdriver. You can also try applying lubricant to loosen the screws. After applying lubricant to the screws, gently turn them with the screwdriver. If the screws are still stuck, you can use a penetrating catalyst or lubricant to force them out of place.

A lift-and-turn shower drain cover has two screws on its edges and one in the center. It is a bit different from the push/pull style drain cover. Before you remove it, make sure it is in its open position so that you can check if there is a stopper screw.

Plunger

If your shower drain is clogged, you can use a plunger to get rid of it. A plunger works by using hydraulic pressure to clear the clog. Choose a plunger that has a narrow opening for more force. Plunge the plunger into the drain several times until the water drains out.

If your plunger isn’t working, you can also try a wet rag, wire hanger, or paperclip. These can all help to stop the overflow drain while the plunger is doing its work. It is important to push the plunger up and down several times to dislodge the clog completely.

The most common way to use a plunger is to force water down the drain. If the plunger does not dislodge the clog, it might actually push it deeper down the waste pipe. If this works, you can try pouring boiling water down the drain to force out the gunk. If that fails, you may have to use another method.

Screwdriver

If you want to remove the drain in your shower, you can do so by yourself using a screwdriver. To remove the drain, you will need to unscrew the flange, which is typically screwed into the tailpiece of the drain. This piece of plumbing is beneath the tub and connects to the main drain pipe in the wall of the bathroom. To unscrew the flange, insert the screwdriver through the drain opening and turn it counterclockwise. However, you should be aware that hardened putty and calcium deposits can make the drain flange very difficult to remove.

First, remove the cover from the drain. If it is attached with screws, they are likely to be Phillips head screws. To loosen them, take a flathead screwdriver and insert it into the opening. Once it is loose enough, you can use a penetrating catalyst or lubricant to force the screws out. Afterwards, you should store the screws in a small cup.

Duct tape

One of the easiest ways to remove a clogged drain is to use duct tape to seal the hole. This works well for drains that have been backed up by hair or a buildup of dirt. The duct tape also prevents water from running into the drain and can be used to cover the entire drain.

If you’ve ever taken a shower that didn’t drain properly, you’ve probably noticed that the drain is clogged. While this may not be an immediate issue, it may indicate a more serious blockage. It might even require professional grade tools to fix.

In order to remove a shower drain, you need to find the right tool for the job.
